Colorado School of Mines Diplomas
A Colorado School of Mines diploma is the ultimate symbol that a student has successfully completed their course of study and are forever thereafter Mines alumni.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE: If your original diploma was lost or destroyed in the December 2021 Marshall Fire, you may request an official replacement (duplicate) diploma free of charge by reaching out to Catarina Da Conceicao de Abreu at cmoita@mines.edu.
Starting with the Class of 2000, all Mines graduates will receive one silver-plated metal diploma for each degree awarded as their official university diploma after graduation and upon certification of their degree.
The silver-plated metal diplomas are 5″ by 5.75″, having the diploma wording engraved on the surface and the seals of Colorado School of Mines and the State of Colorado applied.
Prior to the Class of 2000, students received a parchment (paper) diploma at graduation. Starting with the Class of 2016, all graduates will also receive a Certified Electronic Diploma (CeDiploma) in PDF format that is easy to transport and share, and comes with unique security properties and independent validation services so that third parties can verify a Mines diploma as valid. Additionally, more and more world governments are accepting the CeDiploma rather than paper copies with notarization or apostille (please verify with the government you are doing business with).
Mines graduates who received a parchment (paper) diploma may now order a metal diploma (students must order diplomas, these are not novelties or gifts), and current Mines graduates may also order parchment (paper) diplomas in a standard 11″ by 8.5″ size, and also a larger 15″ by “12” display size. The display size diploma is delivered in a handsome Colorado School of Mines mailing tube (the tube does not damage the diploma).
Additional or duplicate metal and parchment diploma copies can be requested through our online ordering system (various options and shipping available), and then are delivered to Mines graduates. Please note that diploma covers are only given out at commencement ceremonies, and the silver-plated diploma is not shipped with any case, cover, or diploma frames (all types of diploma frames are available at the Mines Bookstore).
